It has long been red wine contents is beneficial for heart health. The new discovery, drinking red wine counteract the ill effects of unhealthy foods.
Resveratrol is found in blueberries and raspberries are rich in antioxidant compounds called polyphenols. Several studies have proved that substance lowers the risk of heart disease and stroke, lowers cholesterol and dispels the risk of cancer.
Research recently published in the journal Frontiers in Physiology add more healthy benefits of the substance.
Researchers from Georgetown University explore how resveratrol helps to eliminate the bad effects of foods rich in fat, high in sugar are often eaten at the weekend. In the study they used monkeys.
In one group of monkeys was fed a healthy balanced diet similar to us in good days. In the other group was given a diet rich in sugar and fat (like we are on a weekend). Then the researchers gave half of each group of resveratrol supplements.
Researchers specifically want to measure how resveratrol affects the muscles that may be negatively affected by unhealthy foods.
After a biopsy three groups of different muscles in monkeys, researchers concluded that foods rich in resveratrol eliminate damage because foods high in fat and sugar in particular muscle groups “slow” is responsible for daily activities such as walking and standing, in contrast to muscle “fast” which is used to run activities.
Of course this is not an excuse to eat unhealthy foods even though no bidders in the form of red wine.
